Sex

Why is it that this country gets into an uproar about sex at every turn of the corner but issues of state, issues of life and death, people shrug off like they don't really matter?

Does anyone have sex anymore? By the headlines recently you'd think not. I am reminded about a joke my father used to tell me about religious leadersand what they have to say about the topic: sex is nasty and dirty, so save it for the one you love.

Basically, you can lie about a blow job and get impeached but lie about a war and well, you know.

Folks, really now, do we, as a country, want to debate sex or real issues? Becasue some people are really trying to change the subject.

UPDATE: A few more very random thoughts on this issue. First, do the Republicans really want to go the sex route again? If so, my first suggestion is finding Larry Flynt again and asking him to sponsor another of his investigations--you know the guy who uncovered Newt's affair with an intern during the impeachment hearings, among others. Also, if the Republicans go down this path again, playing dirty politics likes this, I say the Democrats take their gloves off. Everything, and I mean everything becomes fair game. We are all fighting for the soul of this country, so, as George is so fond of saying: Bring it on.

UPDATE 2: As a perspicacious read said to me in a recent email: "Why would Clark drop out if he had this knowledge as claimed?" UPDATE 2A: Clark to endorse Kerry. Hmmm.

Finally, Hesiod has a good post up on a VERY similar story from the past. Go read it. Now, back to the news.

UPDATE 3: Can we get Mr. Flynt to investigate this? Please.

UPDATE 4: Kos has a a great post up. Go read it.

UPDATE 5: Campaign Desk has an entirely suitable response to Mr. Drudge. Editor and Publisher has more--and it is worth reading. And by the way, the usual suspects are at it again.
