Mrdja, 36, confessed at a special hearing at the UN court to taking part in the shootings of at least 228 prisoners on Mt. Vlasic. The Bosnian Muslim and Croat victims, who had been told they would be released in a prisoner exchange, were driven from a detention camp to woods by a ravine where they were forced to kneel to be shot at the edge of a cliff. Prosecutors and the defense recommended a 15- to 20-year prison sentence after a plea deal. Mrdja is expected to be sentenced later this year. Posted by Nick @ 07/25/2003 10:11 AM | TrackBack |
