More on that "Security Problem" the Democrats Have
Newsday writer James Klurfeld writes this short piece on why the Democrats really lost the 2002 elections. I have been saying this for a long time. Maybe now people will listen.
We have a better message than the Republicans do. It is a message more in tune with America's core values. But nothing will change utnil the Democratic Leadership gets very, very serious about security issues and starts getting comfortable, in a really fast way, with the judicious use of power in international relations. If they expect to win an election anytime soon--that is.
I don't care what anyone says. And I know it has become almost cliche at this point to say it but here it is: September 11 changed things. Get used to it or don't expect to win any elections.

Agreed, to an extent.
National security is important. Democrats should focus on it.
However, I don't think our national security should focus on intervention where we see fit. There are ways to keep our nation secure without intervening everywhere. Serbia is the example I'm thinking about...
You said, "We have a better message than the Republicans do. It is a message more in tune with America's core values."
One question. Do you think that anyone in America who isn't a staunch Democrat heard a message?
Ans. NO.
No message. I waited to hear one because I still vote independant. I will vote for the best Candidate irregardless of party affiliation. I heard not a peep of a positive message from any Democrats, heck I didn't hear anything.
