(The above quote comes from an anonymous Administration official.)
I can already tell you how this is going to be spun. The Administration will say, "no, wait, we don't need to invade North Korea. Our get tough policy with Iraq scared the Koreans, and now they are coming clean. They are 'changing their regime' before we change it for them. All speed ahead, Baghdad."
And of course, The Blog Queen has already blamed Clinton for this.
The Democrats can hang this albatross on George's neck if they really try. What Bush's get tough policy has produced is a regime that is scared to death and protecting itself the only way it can. No amount of spinning changes the fact that the North Koreans have a missile that can reach American cities--make that a nuclear tipped missile that can reach American cities. But the Democrats won't do a thing. It is election time. They are more interested in a prescription drug benefit.
This might derail Bush's diplomacy at the U.N. as well. And the Bush Administration will not pre-emptively strike North Korea for three very real reasons: A war between South Korea-America and North Korea would be massively destabilizing to the global economy. It would be a violation of China's vital national interests to see a unified Korean peninsula. And of course, there is no oil in Korea.
Some Dream Team. I am still waiting for the second string.

Another reason for not pre-emptively attacking North Korea is that it has a formidable military. We prefer to attack weaker countries like Afghanistan and Iraq. We're bullies just like our Israeli friends.

And those vile Euros dared to call the Axis of Evil spin "simplistic". It was and still is outright genius.
