These Are About.

Q: Lately I've been getting this spam about Christian Debt Removal and Christian Mortgages. I don't know what's in it, because stuff like that goes unopened to my Deleted Items folder, but I wonder if anyone else knows that these are about. Is it really some kind of Christian thing, or is it just some kind of fraud playing to Christian sympathies? -- There are two kinds of people in the world, those who put people into categories, and those who don't.

A: Some of it, I believe, can be attributed to heartfelt and sincere Christians who feel their time has come and feel that they can take advantage of the rise in the popularity of their faith from a business point of view. Let's face it, it's "cool" to be a right-wing Christian right now. The majority of that crap, however, is just what you describe: "a fraud playing to Christian sympathies." A lot of unscrupulous merchants are trying to cash in on the present right-wing evangelical craze without any regard for what these people are truly all about. And I too noticed the increase of Christian-this and Christian-that in my e-mails. I even find some of it to be downright funny. (I especially like the Christian Dating Service ones. Hmmm. I wonder what it would be like to date a "real" Christian woman. Ahhh heck, It *might* work out - provided she's a Green Bay Packer fan!
