Sistema Solar

Sistema solar is Spanish equivalent for solar system, the name for the part of the galaxy where we live. Our sistema solar is made up of nine planets and the sun plus all of the moons and satellites that circulate around up there. All of the planets orbit around the sun, kind of like the mother ship in science fiction movies, but nobody could live there. It is too hot for any type of life that is not on fire already. It is estimated that the temperature at the core of the sun is 15.6 million Kelvin. No thinh as we know it could ever live there. To get an idea of the relative size of everything in the solar system, or sistema solar, you need to remember that of all the matter in our solar system, 98 % of it belongs to the sun. Another way to think about it would be to reduce all parts of the solar system by a factor of one billion. In that model the earth wouls be the size of a grape, the sun would be about a city block away from the earth. Jupiter might be the size of a grapefruit. Saturn might be anout the size of an orange and Uranus and Neptune would be the size of lemons. Get the picture. Our solar system, or sistema solar, is often divided into two parts, the inner solar system which incluses the earth and its three

closest neighbors and the outer solar system, which consists of the five planets that are farthest away. In between is a massive asteroid field, but the reality of our solar system, or sistema solar, is that is amost all empty space. Our sun, by the way is a star, a special star to us, but mostly just an ordinary star. It is one of an estimates 100 billion stars, all of them outside our solar system. That almost certainly means that are other sistema solars out there somewhere with people or creatures wondering if there us any else out there. Some day we may be be able to travel out there and see for ourselves but for now we will just have to sit, and watch and wonder.
