Paralegal By Correspondence ?
Q: Does anybody know of a Canadian paralegal correspondence course.I have
found many U.S.A courses however, no canadian
A:I would not recommend paralegal courses by correspodence as to obtain the
skills needed you need to work with individuals. However if you will be
happy working as a legal assistant or law clerk in a law firm contact the
Institute of Ontario Law Clerks in Toronto. They have correspodence
courses.
That's probably because, in Ontario at least, virtually anybody can be
a paralegal without any diplomas, courses et cetera....so far.
But my understanding is that the Law Society of Upper Canada is
working on a regulatory framework for paralegals.
Actually the reulatory framework is being done in conjuction with all stake
holders, such as the Law Society, the Attoreny Generals Office and the
Paralegal Society
Until then check out the creditials of a paralegal before you retain them.
