Law School Prep Courses ?

Q: Does anyone have any info regarding the law school prep courses that are offered for entering law students? It seems to be a one week course during the summer prior to entrance. Any one think that they are worthwhile??

A:I wouldn't waste the time or money. you'll be in law school soon enough, and as a 1L you have plenty of time to get into your own routine. also, its better to discover these things for yourself (since theres a lot of different ways to study, prepare, etc.). i think a few of my lawschool classmates mentioned doing one of the prep courses. they all said it was a big joke and not helpful at all. well i understand that you're anxious to get a jumpstart and everything, just enjoy the calm before the storm. also, i dont think it provides an advantage at all academically. i can't think of any of my fellow

law review members doing one of the courses. just something to keep in mind. Now there are ways to better spend your time if you want to be ahead of the curve (and you really, truly can't resist): read "a civil action"... good book that contains some civil procedure stuff. interesting enough read. brush up on political and moral philosophy (hobbes, mill, rousseau, etc.) read an easy primer on the supreme court (maybe peter irons's "a people's history of the supreme court" for an interesting perspective) brush up on american history and government "getting to maybe" is a good book on law school exams.. but you might want to wait until it gets closer to exam time.
