Harrasment By Collection Agencies For Someone Else's Charges
Q:
A:We had a similar case. A large department store kept demanding a payment
of about $150 from us, when we in fact have not only paid but overpaid our
bill by about $6.
Telephone calls and letters to the merchant were ignored and we were
threatened with "collection". We took them to small claims court and after
proving that we didn't owe them anything, the Judge counted the harassing
notices and awarded us $100 for each note, seven in all, for $700.
Sometimes offense id the best defense. Of course, you and I have rights in
the United States that other people, especially those who lived under
communist rule, could only dream of.
