Pioneer Corporation got its start in Tokyo in 1938. Today it employs more than 36,000 people around the world. It’s goals are to be the number one DVD player manufacturer in the world, to be a leader in making plasma and big screen televisions, and to move from simply being a manufacturer to being a supplier of key items and technologies to other companies. In the United States Pioneer operates three divisions under the name of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. The Mobile Entertainment Division leads the American market in car audio, video and information products. The Mobile Entertainment Division is focusing on advanced in-car navigation systems, DVD video products for in-car use and satellite radio. The Home Entertainment Division is one of the industry leaders in digital home entertainment products. The product line is focused on creating home entertainment and home theater experiences. It includes high definition plasma televisions, DVD players and recorders, audio components and complete home theater systems. The Industrial Business Solutions Division offers a wide range of products from peripherals for DVD recording; professional video players, recorders and library storage systems. It also specializes in helping to create the perfect nightclub experience including professional digital turntables and mixers for DJs, nightclubs and recording studios; and industrial plasma monitors. Pioneer also offers a number of subsidiary services in the United States which include Customer Support through Pioneer Service which ensures that every customer who buys a Pioneer product has someone to talk to about the product afterwards. Pioneer Digital Technologies Inc. has provided over 7 million copies

of its Passport navigation and application software suites to the cable television industry. Another subsidiary, Pioneer Automotive Technologies, Inc. engineers, manufacturers and markets mobile entertainment products to automobile manufacturers including Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Honda. Pioneer is also involved in researching new product lines in digital entertainment and in manufacturing audio and visual equipment in both Mexico and the United States. Finally, through its Discovision subsidiary, Pioneer is the owner and licensor of more than 1,300 patents related to optical disc, hard disk drive, communication, karaoke, electronic commerce and other new technology.
