Q: I want to try to get a head start on living in the US and am wondering whether there is any way to start building an applicable credit rating/credit history for myself in the US? Once I arrive in the US I will have no previous history there and no rating and anticipate it will be somewhat difficult to obtain credit, if required. Does anyone know of any credit cards or account providers who I could use from the UK who would be recognised in the US, for example American Express?

A: -If you has any cards, even a local store credit card, have her place your name on it as well. Within months you will be getting offers for your own card. You can always get a secured credit card where you place $500 in an account and you get a card based on that. Again after a few months, you will be receiving offers. -If you have a Amex card they will ransfer your credit over, I think that might be the only one. I am going to try with my Capital One card also. If you don't have either of those try the last posters advice.
