Royal Doulton perfume and colognes are amongst the world’s favorites and the name Royal Doulton conjures up images of not only nobility but grace and tenacity as well. The Doulton family history can be traced back to John Dwight Doulton who is sometimes called the father of English pottery. In 1671 he set up a pottery in Fulham which was just a small village near London. His grandson carried on this work and soon became known as one of the best potters in London. This evolved to a larger premises and with the need of glazed pipes for sewers the company moved into a new and more lucrative area of work. But the Doultons also continued to make pottery which in turn became china. Doulton exhibited his existing lines, together with a range of simply decorated vases, at the Paris Exhibition. These new products drew the attention of Queen Victoria who ordered some for Windsor Castle.
