Anyone Here Continuing Education?

Q: I want to take a couple night courses at a local community college here. I went to a community college 2 years of it before i met my friend. I got a certificate for a clerk-typist. (no degree) but i was wondering where you go to get any financial assistance. I got pell grants back then but my parents didnt make much money when i lived with them thats why i qualified then. Now he has a decent job making around 32,000 a year and i only make around 8,000 a year with my income. so probably pell is out of the question. so what can i apply for besides student loans??? i just want to get more education to get a better paying job. I would love to be a counselor helping people with their problems. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

A:About the financial aid question: the way it worked when I went to college was that there was a financial aid office that I went to. There they figured out how much money I needed to pay tuition and have a bit to live on. Then they got whatever they could in loans and whatever I still needed they got me in grants. Paying back the loans

is no big deal if you make alot more money to pay them back with. You don't have to pay back the loans until you are done with school. I am not sure that being a counsellor will pay very well though. My best friend just finished her PhD in psychology last year. She did not intend to get a PhD initially, but found that it was the only way to make good money in the psychology/counselling field. Your junior college will probably have career counselling also to let you research what education is needed for different careers, and how much money you can expect to make with different careers. What I have noticed is that traditionally male careers pay much better money.
