Q: A ring appraisal from a gemologist that works for the jewelry store youbought the ring from sounds a lot like the sales manager of a car dealerappraising the vehicle they just sold you.
The appointment with the gemologist was two weeks after the incident.
She would not mis-rate a fake as real because it would be too easy for> us to have a truly independent appraisal in between "the incident" and the appraisal.

A:There's plenty of real Tiffany (and Cartier, and other such
big-name jewelers) pieces on eBay -- the simplest trick to find the
real stuff instead of generic "Tiffany-style settings" would be to search
on "Tiffany & Co.", which at the moment is bringing up about 33 pages
of listings. Narrow the search down a bit more and there are
several genuine Tiffany diamond rings, including some going for
considerably more than $10,000 with heavy bidding -- like this puppy:
