Using A Phone Card
A phone card is an excellent way to obtain cheap rates on long distance without having to subscribe to any particular long distance calling plan. To use a phone card, you must first purchase one from any number of places, including gas stations, grocery stores or department stores. Phone cards can be purchased in various values, all based on the number of minutes allotted on the card. For instance, some cards offer forty and sixty minute cards that are convenient to have in the case of an emergency, especially if you are somewhere where there is no cell phone service available. However, the more minutes you purchase on a card, the better your rate will be. Many five hundred and one thousand minute cards offer rates as low as four or five cents a minute. Some of these cards do charge connection fees, however, and they are deducted from the value of the card itself rather than somehow being billed separately. Many companies make phone cards specifically intended for international use. You can purchase cards with excellent rates to a variety of countries online. For example, there are Mexican, Indian, British and other cards available
