Trendy Jewelry For Man

Q: Pins seem to be somewhat out of fashion just as jewelry styles change. Do any of you wear pins? I have a few but the prettiest is a rectangular shaped cameo who is wearing a tiny necklace with a diamond in the center. It was either my grandmother's or an engagement gift from my father to my mother. I never learned the exact story on its origin. It has a clasp on the back to convert it to a necklace. I wish I could think of ways to wear it as it is a beautiful piece of jewelry.

A:I would wrap a silky or lacy scarf around my neck in any of various ways, and use a decorative pin to secure it. I wish I wore suit jackets to work, because lapels are prime spots for pins, whether they're trendy or not...I'd put an antique cameo on a trimly-cut jacket in a classy fabric: wool, velveteen, or summer linen. I have worn my own antique cameos on a lacy vintage dress, at the bottom of a plunging vee-neckline. Avoids the schoolmarm effect. I used to wear them all the time. I've completely forgotten about them and really need to dig them out. Since I wear black everyday, an occasional pin might be nice with me as the backdrop. I used to collect Bakelite and I have some excellent Bakelite pins.
