Training For Online Teachers
Q: I'm looking for information on the cost to train teachers to deliver
classes online. The classes might be asychronous or sychronous so the
tools the teachers use will vary. Does anyone have cost models they can
share with me? Also, does anyone have information on lesson plans or other
resources for this type of training?
A:At iteachnet.org, I offer "Web Teach," a course that gives each student his or
her own Web log (We use one called "Geeklog") and Online course builder (We use
Manhattan Virtual Classroom) and teaches them to build their own courses. The
course is given in the same tools they are meant to learn to use, so they
experience being both teacher and student while honing their skills and
focusing on their own content.
