Toronto Divorce Lawyer
Q: Getting ready for up coming interview K-1(no date set yet) and applied in Thunder Bay for my old marriage certificate. One problem,,,they can't find it. In packet 3 on checklist it asks for divorce decree. But on other paper in packet 3, (supplemental information ) its says '' marriage certificates: Original, civil marriage certificates are required." Registrar General can't find it and even if they did find it, they wouldn't send me the orignial. Copy yes, but not original. So I'm wondering if they can't find it before my interview, if they usually ask for it in Montreal?
A: I was wondering the same thing myself. I happen to have a notarized copy of mine (from the divorce lawyer) and did not want the hassle of getting another. Of course, now, I have to get the "LONG" version of my birth certificate, so I will still be dealing with the Registrar General's office. I am close enough to Toronto to go down and pay the extra $15 for same day service. If you don't have it, you don' have it. At least you have the Church's copy and that will have to be better than nothing. I'm sure your divorce papers state what your maiden name was before marriage. This is basically what they are looking for in women. Can't imagine what they are looking for when it comes to a man.
