Sunday Mail – When It Has To Be There

For the most part, Sunday is not a day for work and Sunday mail is not a common occurrence. There are some instances in which private delivery companies offer Sunday deliveries, but you’re probably going to be charged for the service. Another thing that is usually delivered on Sunday is the newspaper, if you live in an area where Sunday delivery is available. The United States Postal Service and most major mail and delivery services are fairly clear about the fact that they deliver only on Monday through Thursday. Typically, the mail that arrives at a particular post office on Saturday won’t be delivered until Monday. Most people have simply become accustomed to this practice and plan accordingly. One instance in which Sunday mail becomes an issue is when a Sunday postmark is necessary in order for the mail to be considered “on time.” What typically happens if the Sunday is a major date is that the postal service will hold hours on that date. For example, if the tax deadline falls on a Sunday, those who put the mailing off until the last minute may find themselves hit with late charges because the post office isn’t open that day and the outgoing

mail isn’t postmarked. Sunday mail isn’t relegated to acceptance of outgoing mail. Sometimes, companies offer to make deliveries even on Sunday during peak seasons. For example, those who find that they’ve mailed letters and packages too late for delivery during the Christmas season may find a private delivery company that makes deliveries on Sundays. This could be an important point if you’re near to missing the important date. Newspapers are typically delivered by employees of the newspaper company, but some are finding private delivery companies who tout Sunday mail delivery. For those in more urban areas, finding companies who promise Sunday mail is probably not that difficult.
