Retirement Gift

When it’s time to buy a retirement gift, knowing as much as possible about the person’s plans and dreams for his or her retirement can mean that you’re gift will be treasured for many years. But even if you have little idea what the future holds for the retiree, there are some tried and true gifts that will cover almost anyone. A hobby gift makes a good retirement gift, especially if your retiree is one of those people who has exhibited an interest in something in particular. If you know he collects stamps or coins, look for books or a magazine subscription on that subject. Perhaps he’s exactly the kind of person who would like to put a model together – model cars are not for children (or for the feint of heart) and could be just the project for a rainy day. If models catch your attention, how about a ship in a bottle? If the retiree has been working in your office or company for a long time, why not take a few photos of this person with the whole gang and have the photo put on a tee-shirt or coffee mug? Or look around for a photo of the retiree when he or she was very young – those pictures also make a great basis for a retirement gift. You can find several online website that offer personalized gifts that range from mouse pads to calendars or playing cards. Any of those with a great picture

would make an awesome retirement gift. If you know your retiree isn’t likely to be traveling much, how about a subscription to a candy service, floral service or steak house as a retirement gift? You can choose the gifts that will be delivered each month for a year. Each time prime cuts of meat, beautiful flower arrangements or delicious candy is delivered, the retiree will be reminded of your thoughtfulness. If your retiree is planning to travel, why not get him or her a great travel bag? You can get quality materials with name or initial embossing, along with a dozen postcards addressed to the office. You can even go ahead and fill in the line that says, “Wish you were here.”
