Post Card Printing Using Color Laser Printer?

Q: I have done some research on this and related newsgroups and it seems postcard marketing with cold calling works well for web design businesses. My post card compain will be about 200 cards for each job, and I want to play with different copy, design and color. I will also use different design for different industry. With this in mind, using commercial printing is too expensive for me. I used USPS postcard service before but I am not satisfied with the print quality (I used the single color one). I am thinking of buying a color laser printer, and it seems the Minolta 2350 has very good review with regard to image quality and heavy-weight card stock. I have read almost all posts in this newsgroup regarding postcard marketing. My question is, will color laser printer (in particular, the Minolta 2350) good enough for postcard marketing?

A: -If you haven't tried it already, try printing the cards in small quantities at Kinko's, the nicer UPS Stores and most Office Depots. You can also experiment

with the printers they use. Once you decide on the card you want try www.ClubFlyers for some great pricing, 5,000 4x6 full color for $150. -I designed my postcard in Microsoft Publisher. Then you can upload the CMYK image to overnightprints.com and view what the postcards will look like before you order. It's about $90 for 1,000. Then when I want to do unique versions for specific targets, I load them into a printer and print on the back of them with an inkjet. The only drawback is you have to set it to use low volume/long dry printing because the ink has difficulty adhering to the finish on these cards. It comes out great though once you figure it out.
