Q: I was just reading an NBA AP article about how Iverson is gonna try and change
his act, etc., and the article mentions that he is refusing to comment on his
upcoming, 'expletive-ridden' rap album release.
What do y'all think? I have nothing against expletives, as most hip-hop artists
do it, but Iverson is first and foremost a basketball player. For example, Shaq
has been mediocre at best as an emcee, but the point is, realizing that he has
a lot of young NBA fans who might buy his albums, he has made expletive-free
albums. On the other hand, we have Iverson, who has been crucified by the
sports media--mostly deservedly--and appears to be doing his part to bring
*more* criticism upon himself by releasing an 'expletive-ridden' album.
Thoughts?
A:I dont' think it's that much of a problem. Just in my experience
talking to kids and seeing em and whatnot, I don't see too many
youngsters like, age 8-12, being Iverson fans. They like Kobe or some
shit like that.
besides, ain't Iverson with The Brat? Does that mean we're gonna get a
bunch of So So Def shit on the album? I'm not so worried about his role
model image, but that he's gonna come wack. And I think he will..I hope
he surprises though.
Why can't these basketball cats put their BOYS on or somethin? They've
already GOT the meal ticket, greedy motherfuckers. Let them cats try and
get their own shine, for them.
