Making Business Cards In Claris Works 4.0?
Q: I've been raking my brain on this one. What I want to do is create a business card template for use with printable card stationary. In MS Works, you can create a series of text frames to simply cut & paste into. Their doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this in CW. The cards will contain an image from Claris Works Drawing Document. Any thoughts?
A: -Actually it's quite easy. 1. Create a database document. 2. Under theLayout menu select "New Layout" 3. Click on "Labels" 4. If you are using Avery stock simply scroll down the list until you find the appropriate number. 5. If it is not there you can custom create the appropriate size. 6. To insert graphics you must be in Layout mode. Copy the graphic into the clipboard go to your labels database and paste it where you want it on the card. -I tried for a long time to do this in Clarisworks and came up with three solutions: a) Do it in a draw document where you set up everything manually. Yuck. b) Do it in a database document. Tricky, but do-able. See below. c) Do it in MS Word. Very easy, although I didn't have a graphic. For static business cards, I just use MS Word. Likewise for envelopes (so I can get the Zip+4 barcode) and return address labels. However, you can also produce business cards in the _database_ of Clarisworks. Do the following: create a new database. Just make a single field. Make 10 dummy records (e.g. make a field with a number, and make records with the numbers 1-10). Create a new layout using a "Custom" label definition, specifying the dimension of the business cards (2 inches by 3.5 inches), with two columns. Edit the layout, placing your graphic and designing the card as you wish. When you Browse the database in Page View, you'll see your business card grid laid out. Print this onto a blank piece of paper and then
