Landlord Harrasment

Q: We rented a property in Nottingham last year and handed in our notice within the required time within the tenancy contract and left the property approximately a month ago. Our landlord has chosen to withold the deposit totalling £450 with no substantial claim. We actually left the property in a better state than when we entered it, after performing repairs to it and cleaning He trades under a name which is not registered with company's house and the only address we have for the trading name is another one of his lettings where he collects mail from (he does not live there). Therefore we do not have a reliable address for him. We did not recieve an inventory at all and the contract does not explicitly state anything about one . We have left in addition to what was already in the place a microwave, a towel rail, bedding and a fold out bed. I have requested in invoice for the amount concerned so he can show us WHY hw has taken the money, but I think that he is going to ask for more money as he has expressed this and has threatened to take us to court Where do we stand? Please can someone give me some advice as to

how to proceed with the matter further

A: I found myself in a simialr situation. The landlord was making claims to damages we didn't caused. Inventing holes in walls that were not there for example. We threatened to take him to court, the money turned up fairly promptly... He didn't even take off money for the damage that was caused (somehow we lost a fire extinguisher). if he goes to court, wll have to give THEM a real address, and details / proof of any (signed?) contract.. without it, he has no case against you. possible counter claim against him, for holding back the deposit- i would report to the police, for harrasment anyway..
