Finding Discount Airfare
Discount airfare is not very hard to find, you just have to know where to look. There are many different ways to go about locating discount airfare, including through travel agents, internet sites, calling the airline directly, and more. There are also many different reasons you may be able to purchase discount airfare, and some pertain to the traveler's age. One of these types of discount airfare is if the ticket is for a child that will be sitting in your lap. Some airlines offer these tickets for free, and some offer them at half the normal price. Another discount a person might be eligible for is a senior discount. Sometimes location and travel date themselves will be cause for discount airfare. When you are looking for your travel tickets, you will want to search if there are any airlines that are offering discount travel. Many times, Southwest airlines will have such promotional discount airfare, and often it is a price of $99 for a flight (almost) anywhere within the United States. These promotional offers are usually very short term, but can offer some great deals on discount airfare. Another way to get discount airfare is by purchasing tickets in advance. The earlier you purchase your airline ticket, the less people will already be reserved on the flight, so the prices are lower. The closer to time of travel you try to purchase your tickets, the more filled up the planes will be, therefore the more expensive the tickets will be, and the harder it will be to find discount airfare. One good way of getting discount airfare (which depends drastically on your travel plans and limits on time) is to purchase stand-by tickets. This tends to be one of the best ways to get discount airfare, but can also be one of the most bothersome. Stand-by tickets mean exactly what they say: you stand by in the airport waiting for someone to not show up for a flight, or to cancel their tickets at the last minute. Then, when this happens, you will get the same airfare at a discount price. It makes sense that airlines offer this opportunity, because they do often have last minute cancellations, so they would rather offer discount airfare than to not have sell the ticket (or tickets)
