Don't Be Taken In By The Charlatans Passing Themselves As Attorneys???

Q: I know good immigration lawyers, and could make referrals if my clients require it. That doesn't make me competent to practice immigration law, or hold myself out as someone who can. Give me some comments, whether they list IP, then they do IP. It isn't required that they list IP specifically for any particular partner. It may offend which sensibilities, but that is hardly a hit against the firm.

A: Sorry, but I don't agree. In order to practice in an area, you need someone competent to do so. I practice IP. If you look at my bio on my firm's website, you'll see it specifically lists the IP areas in which I practice (and has a list of representative cases within that area, etc.). If a firm claims an area of expertise, but doesn't have an attorney whose bio recites the basis for that expertise then, sorry, but it is a hit against the firm. As I said, I didn't go through all the resumes of the associates at your Orlando firm, but none of the partners claimed IP as an area of practice, nor did the resumes of the associates that I looked at (roughly half).
