Cost Of Producing Training Video On IMac?

Q: Cost of Producing Training video on iMac? I am a windows user who came up with a way to come back to the Apple world by proposing to a company that i could do training videos on an iMac. (this way I could get the money to buy one) Since I had never done this before they asked me to create a sample and rented me an iMac to do the work. Now i have to give them a price for producing more of these videos. There may be a total of 25 to 30. Now, I'm new to this, but i think I did a decent job. There is well edited footage as well as shots which incorporate picture in picture (used QT pro and masked certain parts of one shot and overlayed on another). I also have some simple animations I ceated using Flash. The whole video is about 10 minutes, but it took me over 65 hours to create including naration, etc.) Since i have never done this before, I am wondering what this would cost them in the real world. I know I am not a pro, but I want to make sure I am getting paid fairly. I think I should get at least 50% of what a pro would get. Any feedback would be greatly apreciated?

A:- It's important to understand this sort of thing would be done in a fraction of the time in the real world but at least $100/hr. If your certain about the 25-30 videos, a package deal would certainly be in order. I'd say an even grand per video is a good deal for them and for you. - part of what you can charge depends on what kind of training videos you are doing. If it is how to operate a copier, it might be easier to see if there are generic training videos out there. on the other hand if you are doing Process Safety Management (PSM) program training vids, Charge them full professional price. I suppose the same could be said for any Safety or Security video. or any video that helps the company avoid lawsuits - Here is a lit tle more detail. 1). I shot the video for the first "demo" video, but they would provide the video for subsequent videos, so i just handle the post production. 2. There is never a guarantee that there would be 30 videos, they are just throwing a number out. I think some videos would be similar to others, so i was thinking of a tired pricing like this. a) original for item A would be $2500 b) variations to item A call it A2 $1000 v) modifications (i.e. updates to the process $500 d) DVD creating $10 / DVD ( i know DVDs are less than $10, but there is some waste if the first does not come out well, etc.)

e) Equiment usage $150 per video One of the main issues I have is that there is a high up front cost to get set up. computer software, etc. so one approach is for me to finance the computer and charge them seperately for it. They woulld like a fixed price per video, but the time may vary from product to product. For example, this first video only had 16 components others will have 30, 50, or even 100, so those videos would take more time to produce. By the way, there is no "generic" video for this, because it is gearer for their operation. These would basicall be used to train their temporary employees on how to run their process for each product they make.
