Cologne has been around for centuries. One of the oldest uses of perfumes and colognes comes form the burning of incense and aromatic herbs used in religious services, often the aromatic gums, frankincense and myrrh, gathered from trees. The Egyptians were the first to incorporate perfume into their culture followed by the ancient Chinese, Hindus, Israelites, Carthaginians, Arabs, Greeks, and Romans. The earliest use of perfume bottles is Egyptian and dates to around 1000 BC. The Egyptians invented glass and perfume bottles were one of the first common uses for glass. Since the days when perfumes were first invented, colognes for men have taken just as strong a hold on them as women’s perfume has on them. Men’s colognes are varied and just about maker of perfume has accommodated the ever demanding field of men’s perfume. Men take just as much in choosing the right colognes for them as women do. Some of these colognes can be quite pricey, but the average sized bottle usually starts at around $25. Scent is the strongest association with memory, which is why certain smells can trigger an immediately vivid memory. Scents even uncover buried memories. With that vivid memory comes a feeling we associate with that scent. A certain type of cologne that is associated with a certain man has this same effect.
