Check Credit Score Online For Free.

Q: Anyone want to recommend a good online credit report site. I would like a 3 bureau report and credit score. Don't mind paying, in fact I've always heard to stay away from the 'free' sites. Didn't get the rate I was looking for on my lease buy-out from the stealership (not bad but not what I had expected), figured I better look at it before I hassle em' or apply elsewhere

A: On the contrary. You should take a look at your credit at least once a year. I recently went in to purchase a home and was getting crappy results from lenders. I purchased the credit report and found that there was a mistake that had been put on my report several years ago. After clearing that up (took about a month and had to fix it at all 3 crediting bureaus), the lenders were fighting for my business. You get pinged

every time a lender(credit card, bank, phone company, mortgage, etc) looks up your score or report but you do not get pinged if you get your own information. Over the time I've been fixing my credit, I've run my report and score a few times. The only time my score went down was when a new lender checked my credit and that only affected it a couple of points. It's also important to look at your credit report/score to watch for someone stealing your identity. They've had a few shows on 20/20 regarding identity theft and it's amazing how easy people can get your identity. With things as simple as the junk mail or statements you receive, they can become you.
