Bridal Jewelry--OK To Look For Bargains?
Q: Where have people been buying their wedding jewelry? I don't mean
rings--we've already ordered ours and splurged on something nice, since
they're one of the few things from the wedding day we'll keep, other
than each other. I'm thinking about necklaces, earrings, and the
like. I rarely wear necklaces other than a somewhat beat-up Celtic
cross, my ears aren't pierced (once they were, but they kept getting
infected and I decided it wasn't worth it), and I don't have many
occasions in my life where elaborate jewelry is called for. Also, our
family doesn't exactly have any heirloom pearls or diamonds lying
around!
All that being said, I'm tempted to get something really cheap and
simple for a wedding necklace. A couple weeks ago I was in a mall
accessories store looking for hair clips, and I saw some necklaces of
faux pearls, rhinestones, and the like that looked fine to me. But I'm
no expert. Will people be able to tell cheap accessory-store fake
pearls from expensive department store ones?
