Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a person’s memory. It doesn’t just damage the memory. It will also affect your ability to learn and reason, make decisions, communicate and carry out everyday activities. You may forget even those that are closest to you. You may forget who you are. This makes it a very disheartening disease. As this disease progresses, you will get to the point where you may become agitated, your personality can change and you may have delusions or hallucinations. It can be very disturbing and very frustrating to someone who is going through it and for their families as well. It’s hard to see the person you love deteriorate like that. However, you should be as supportive as possible and try to help your loved one in every way you can. You should make it a point to inform yourself on the topic as much as you can. This will help you help your loved one. It is the number one cause for dementia at this time. Unfortunately, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s at this time but studies are being conducted every day to try to learn

more about it and hopefully find a cure. Research has shown that if people with Alzheimer’s disease are given the proper care and treatment, it can improve their quality of life even though there is not a cure. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, it can be a very scary thing. But you need to be patient and get as much information as possible on the disease and also on your particular case and how far it has progressed. If you have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in the early stages, you can start preparing for your future and what you want to happen with you as well as who you want to make your decisions when you are no longer able to do it for yourself.
