Acid Reflux Sore Throat

Q: I have had acid reflux for many years. It got so that I had vomit (food) in the back of my throat all the time and I had to keep swallowing. After tests, they discovered that I didn't have a reflux value...it had worn out. Gross!!! The doc sent me to a surgeon and they operated taking my stomach and wrapping it around my esphougus or visa versa...I can never remember what. I had my surgery in November of 91. I am fiine now and don't have any problems. I take two zantac a day and It's great. The best anti acid is Gaviscon Can anyone help me please?

A:I have several friends who are surgeons and have discussed this with them. We are taking acid reflux in much too cavalier a fashion in this day and age. Because there are medicines that elivaite the symptoms and we with cvids and fibromyalgia tend to adapt and accept discomfort and pain (due in part to the way we are treated by family and the medical community) acid reflux can lead to Barrets Syndrome which in turn leads to a form of cancer that is 95% fatal. I know..after my operation they told me I was

within two years of my Barrettes Syndrome ...well I don't even want to say it. When I saw the photos that they had taken, it looked like severe burns..like red hot pimples inside of my esophigas. What I am saying is...don't take this lightly..I don't mean to frighten anyone..but when you lie face down for 3 days waiting for the result of the internal exam on the nature of these cells it makes cfids seem like a walk in the park..trust me I am not minimizing the nature of our disease..but this can be serious. Since my operation I have met loved ones of people who died from this. One gal's husband was only 27. She said he thought reflux was just a pain in the neck..raised his bed
