Acid Reflux Heart

Q: I have had panic and anxiety disorder for over eight years. I take one half of a .25 Xanax as needed. This morning I got up at 5

A: M. and didnt feel well. My allergies have been really bad since the ragweed bloomed and I also had acid reflux with pain in that spot between the breasts. Well I was sitting on the couch reading and was kinda bent over with the book on my lap when my heart skipped a beat and then it kept skipping beats. It has done this for several years but this time everything got kinda black and I felt like I was going to pass out. I have had the skipped beats several times where things go a little dark for a second but I have never felt like I was going to pass out before. It felt like my heart had stopped beating. I jumped up and ran into the kitchen to get the phone and it passed. Then I was so nervous my heart started beating fast, not racing just beating fast like when you have a bad scare. I thought I was going to have a panic attack but I didnt. I did take one half Xanax to calm down though.I also have mitral valve prolapse and have had two echos done. The last one was three years ago and the tech told my heart was very healthy and to not lose sleep over the mvp. The cardiologist said the same thing. They said the mvp is very mild. What I would like to know has anyone else had this happen and could it be associated with the mve allergies and acid reflux. I have notice when my acid reflux and allergies are bad that seems to be when I have the most skipped beats like that. Someone told me esophageal spasms can cause something that feels like skipped beats. I am no longer a hypochondriac and dont think every pain is a heart attack like I did for years but I gotta tell ya this little spell this morning scared the crap out of me. Jackie had posted on here one time to cough when your heart keeps skipping beats and I have done that and it always helps but this morning I guess it happened so fast I didnt think to do that. I was just wondering if any on you wonderful people have ever had this to happen and if you know what caused it. Can anyone help me please?

A:I have had all the heart tests done. I have anxiety induced palpitations. My heart is healthy and strong. But

the palpitations are sooo scary! My doctor told me to hold my breath and bear down with the palpitations, as this will get the heart back to the regular beat. I have no pain nor do I feel like passing out. But you did mention that you bent over at the same time you felt like blacking out and I think that it had something to do with bending over. Also, with acid refllx, gerd and hiatal hernia, the esophagus does go into spasms and it can resemble heart palpitations. They are harmless also. I have a hiatal hernia and I sorta can tell the difference. Usually I will end up with the hiccups if it has something to do with my hernia. IF you truly are worried than call your doctor.
